Today a single road loops the coast, past the late nights of Chaweng, the gentler sand of Lamai, the wooden shophouses of the Fisherman's Village in Bophut, the long, quiet beach at Maenam and the piers of Nathon, the island's main town.

Small things that help a parcel find you on Samui:
Rain is heaviest from about October to December, when rough seas can slow the crossing now and then. In those months, order a day or two earlier.
Winding hill roads and new estates can be hard to find. Put a nearby landmark in the address and keep your phone on, because couriers often call.
3 to 4 days is long enough to swap beaches, or islands. Enter the address where you will be when the parcel lands.
Island air is damp. Keep the strains in their vacuum pack until you use them, somewhere cool and out of the sun.
